Greer Ralston Demonstration
We had a real master class from Greer Ralston at our January Zoom demonstration. It was a privilege to see the painting appear, but so refreshing to hear Greer's love of passing on painting tips to all of us. As well as working as an artist Greer runs a variety of private art classes, including Life Drawing, and gives demonstrations to various art groups across Scotland. Please follow Greer on her Facebook at www.facebook.com/greer.ralston.
Demonstration 7th December 2021
What a treat we had from Robert Kelsey whose painting of Iona is now complete. As always Robert made this looks so easy and we were privileged to see the painting evolve before our eyes. To see more of Robert’s amazing work, visit his web page at www.rkelsy.com
Michael J Docherty Demonstration
As we continue our demonstrations on Zoom, we were treated to a special night by our first demonstrator of our new session, Michael J Docherty. Michael painted a portrait from the classical French Painter William Adolphe Bouguereau. His skill at producing this picture very quickly before our eyes had us all mesmerised. We enjoyed his easy chat and his love of classical painting was evident to all of us. Michael was unable to finish the painting in the short time of his presentation. He apologises that he is extremely busy at the moment and has been unable to send us the completed work. However, he has sent us a study of a self portrait in a similar style for us to admire. For further information on Michael's workshops and classes please visit www.scottishschoolofclassicalart.com and www.facebook.com/scottishschoolofclassicalart
Demonstration on 2nd March 2021
We were delighted that Danny Campbell stepped in at the last minute to be our final demonstrator for this session. We were enthralled to see the painting take place in front of our eyes. The scene from Ettrick Bay looking over to Arran enthralled all of us. We were also intrigued to have a tour of Danny's studio. A fitting end to our Zoom year.
Demonstration on 2nd February 2021
Another great demonstration on Zoom. This is the finished painting by Lesley Anderson of the boats. You can see more of her fantastic work on www.andersonsmithcreative.com
Demonstration on 5th January 2021
What a treat we had at our fourth Zoom demonstration. Our guest was Denise Findlay whose talent transported us to the delights of pastel portraiture. Within minutes we watch in awe as this beautiful portrait emerged. First the eye, then the nose and finally the mouth. The night was over all too soon, but Denise has kindly sent us the finished portrait called "Primavera" in Pastel and gold leaf. You can see more of Denise’s work on her web page at www.denisefindlay.com.
Demonstration on 2nd December 2020
There is no doubt that we bring a variety of demonstrations to Bearsden Art Club. With the title of "Inspirational Paintings", Marjory Sime did not let us down. Her completed 4 paintings (all done in the hour and a half) are truly inspirational and she took us by surprise when she used the canvas she had been using as a palate and asked for suggestions to turn it into a painting. Snowy mountains was the suggestion and Marjory in her final 15 minutes created the Snowy Mountains as requested.
You can see more of Marjory's inspirational paintings on www.marjorysimeart.com
Demonstration on 3rd November 2020
We may have been in our own homes on demo night, but our demonstrator transported us up into the hills on a beautiful autumn day. Gavin Scott Weir’s painting in oil appeared seamlessly before our eyes. Time of course did not allow Gavin to complete the painting but here is the finished painting for us to see. He has called it "The Path up Ben Lui". You can see other works by Gavin on his web page at www.gavinweir.com
